About The Position

The Maryland Transit Administration is seeking a B Repairman for Light Rail Car Maintenance. This is a promotional opportunity for all MTA employees only. The position involves engaging in all aspects of major and minor inspections, as well as preventative and corrective maintenance on light rail vehicles and their sub-components. The B Repairman will be responsible for making repairs to propulsion systems, brake systems, air compressors, door controls, and heating, ventilating, and cooling systems. Additional duties include preparing car bodies for painting, minor reconditioning, and troubleshooting various systems. The employee will also operate service equipment and handle situations that impact revenue operations.

Requirements

• Must demonstrate the ability to perform the outlined duties.
• Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities

• Engage in major and minor inspections of light rail vehicles.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on light rail vehicles and sub-components.
• Make repairs to propulsion systems, brake systems, air compressors, and door controls.
• Prepare car bodies prior to painting and perform minor reconditioning.
• Troubleshoot basic system-level issues.
• Operate various machines associated with motor refurbishing.
• Move vehicles in the shop, yard, and car wash.
• Operate service equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and cranes.
• Handle situations that involve or impact revenue operations.
