Bulldog PALs Leaders at Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) play a crucial role in supporting students' academic success. This part-time position involves attending class meetings, which may include assisting in laboratories or attending remote synchronous or in-person classes. The PALs Leaders are expected to communicate regularly with the section faculty member to ensure alignment in supporting students. They model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors, serving as role models for staff, faculty, and students alike. In addition to attending classes, PALs Leaders are responsible for planning and facilitating two study sessions per week, either directly before or after class, depending on student availability. They respond to small group study session requests as needed. The role emphasizes assisting students in developing essential skills such as time management, note-taking, study techniques, and exam preparation. It is important to note that PALs Leaders do not reteach course material; instead, they facilitate discussions and encourage critical thinking among students. Tracking student attendance and uploading study session plans to Moodle each week is also part of the responsibilities. PALs Leaders assist students in locating and submitting assignments through Moodle or other technology platforms, provide support via email or on-campus meetings, and offer tips for effective communication with professors. They help students understand course expectations and are responsible for distributing, collecting, and returning various Bulldog PAL-related surveys. Access to all course materials, including textbooks and Moodle, is essential for this role.
