About The Position

The Terminal Supervisor dispatches drivers (including himself), communicates & schedules equipment maintenance, manages rail car inventory (rail tech duties). They will communicate and assist Terminal Manager (TM) in customer complaints. The Terminal Supervisor will communicate with drivers on daily dispatch and other company information from TM. This role will ensure that all Terminal staff are using PPE & working within safety & quality standards

Requirements

  • Minimum education: high school diploma
  • Class A driver license with experience in combination vehicles
  • Valid state issued driver’s license, Passport and clean DMV record. Class “A” CDL is required
  • Must maintain a current DOT medical qualification to drive while employed by Plastic Express
  • Required to talk and hear
  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Requires long periods of standing while teaching a class
  • Must be able to perform physical labor such as, routinely lifting up to 55 lbs., moving up to 250 lbs. with proper tools, climbing ladders, operate control panels and working with hand tools
  • Must possess appropriate vision to include close visual confirmation of finely printed documents; have distance vision to safely and correctly identify objects and or markings; have peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus on subjects or objects at any safe working distance
  • Proven leadership skills – able to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact
  • Detailed oriented with a tenacious focus on results
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be on call for guidance 24/7, while Terminal deliveries are taking place.
  • Driving / Hauling Loads: as needed

Responsibilities

  • DOT Safety Compliance
  • Full Understanding of DOT HOS
  • Full Understanding of company ELD equipment
  • Communicate to drivers or assist in maintaining full compliance
  • Communicate with drivers on behalf of TM
  • Maintain driver’s schedules and assign work tasks
  • Prepare daily dispatch to ensure that the drivers are being routed in an efficient and productive manner and to include product compatibility and wash requirements in regards to Plastic Express procedures.
  • Interface with PLXP Customer Service Representatives to ensure the Customer Orders requests are being met.
  • Communicate items that will effect delivery performance.
  • Serve as dispatcher and rail supervisor.
  • Wash Tanks or supervise the activity with drivers
  • Ensure that all washout inspections of trailers are completed.
  • Ensure that all outside maintenance is being performed by qualified vendors including the tractor & trailers 90-day service intervals.
  • Manage all equipment; communicate with Terminal Manager to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Oversee company wash/wax/and polish program to comply with Plastic Express standards.
  • Maintenance records management uploading to PXTM, communicate with tire vendors, truck and trailer vendors for service.
  • Serve as Rail Tech to maintain correct and timely inventory management.
  • Collect, maintain and/or ship Railcar Samples as requested by customer.
  • Ensure driver hook-up to railcars are being verified, prior to driver’s loading.
  • Order and maintain supplies and equipment utilized in the course of normal business at the rail yard.
  • Make arrangements for any rail yard maintenance.
  • Ensure terminals and/or office housekeeping standards are being met.
  • Act as liaison between Plastic Express and local railroad contacts.
  • When applicable, oversee scale compliance of Plastic Express owned scales & calibration for good working order and state & local licenses.
  • Oversee sample retention and driver seal records for terminal compliance.
  • Order and maintain sample bag & railcar seals inventory from vendors.
  • Inputs seals into PXTM for driver traceability.
