About The Position

The Chemical Bulk Operator is responsible for supporting Stepan’s Safety, Environmental & Responsible Care policies, including the authority to stop work to avoid unsafe or environmental incidents. The operator will maintain accurate records in SAP and prepare equipment for maintenance activities, including cleaning and LOTOTO. The role involves safely off-loading ethylene and propylene oxide (EO/PO) railcars to storage tanks, as both EO and PO are highly hazardous raw materials. The operator must be able to wear additional PPE when completing specific tasks and will also be responsible for safely off-loading bulk raw materials to storage tanks by both railcar and tank truck, as well as loading finished products from storage tanks to both railcars and tank trucks. The operator will filter finished products through both candle and polishing filters and must be an active member of the site emergency response team, completing all required training. All job-related duties must be performed with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship, and the operator must be willing to work overtime as required.

Requirements

• Self-motivated and able to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
• Well organized with a focus on managing multiple tasks safely and responsibly.
• Understanding of chemical process operations and ability to recognize and respond to operational difficulties and potential safety concerns.
• Familiarity with Distributed Control System (DCS) operation and basic instrumentation.
• Computer literate.
• Experience handling ethylene and propylene oxide is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate record keeping in SAP.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance activities including cleaning and LOTOTO.
• Safely off-load ethylene and propylene oxide (EO/PO) railcars to storage tanks.
• Safely off-load bulk raw materials to storage tanks by both railcar and tank truck.
• Safely load finished products from storage tanks to both railcars and tank trucks.
• Filter finished products through both candle and polishing filters.
• Be an active member of the site emergency response team and complete all training as required.
• Perform all job-related duties as assigned with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
• Be willing to work overtime as required.
