About The Position

The Bulk Driver position at Matheson Tri-Gas primarily serves hospitals, commercial food processors, and various government agencies. This role requires long hours while remaining DOT compliant, with a set schedule that includes two consecutive days off. The position involves night shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended stays as needed. While primarily local, candidates must be adaptable to changes in schedules as operational needs arise. Under the supervision of the local Terminal Manager, the Bulk Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of commercial motor vehicles, specifically handling liquefied Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Argon gases to customer locations and production facilities as assigned. This position reports directly to the Terminal Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of tractor and semi-trailer experience.
  • Possess a valid Class A CDL with hazardous materials, tanker, and air brake endorsements.
  • Minimum of three years of tractor and semi-trailer experience with verification.
  • Safe driving record history.
  • Competence in handling a commercial motor vehicle during the pre-employment road test.
  • Ability to drive manual transmission.
  • Ability to work a five-day schedule per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Maintain physical qualifications as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and stoop as required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to adjust to changes in schedules as needed.
  • Willingness to work within all guidelines of the Federal Motor Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to operate delivery and loading equipment in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to acquire competency in safe handling practices of cryogenic liquids.

Responsibilities

  • Safe loading and unloading of cryogenic liquids (oxygen, nitrogen, and argon).
  • Practice safe driving techniques daily to prevent work-related accidents and injuries.
  • Report all accidents and unsafe acts/conditions (near misses) while performing normal duties.
  • Comply with all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete and submit all required regulatory compliance and company documents.
  • Communicate accurately and timely with appropriate individuals regarding customer service, scheduling delays, and equipment defects.
  • Obtain and understand scheduling information from dispatchers and planners.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate professional standards.
  • Report for duty ready to work at the assigned time.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
