About The Position

The Level One Technician assists district Network Technicians, Network Engineer, and other technology team members with the support, maintenance, and installation of district technology equipment and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience with related skills and knowledge of information technology
  • At least one year of experience with Active Directory, Windows and/or Chrome operating systems, computer troubleshooting and repair, and helpdesk system
  • Skills necessary for effective and professional communication with information technology staff members, technology vendors, school district personnel, students, and community members
  • Ability to participate and contribute effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to take direction, make timely and effective decisions with the available information or knowledge of any given task
  • Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop possible solutions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time and duties efficiently and responsibly
  • Work independently and provide daily status reports
  • Leadership qualities necessary to accomplish the duties and responsibilities listed below
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review and prepare documents and file them in a prescribed order, and organize documents and materials.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • May be required to block or redirect students.
  • Must be able to effectively supervise and support staff when consequences are implemented including supervising physical restraint and seclusion if necessary for safety.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, update and maintain district technology equipment, including hardware, software, and associated peripherals
  • Perform application-specific support tasks as deemed appropriate by technology department guidelines
  • Assist with the maintenance of local area network cabling according to technology department guidelines and industry standards
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of network equipment as directed by Network Administrator
  • Create and maintain documentation for information technology staff, school staff, and school administration member
  • Monitor, prioritize, resolve or escalate assigned technology helpdesk tasks
  • Modify, and monitor Active Directory objects, associations, and rights organization as directed by technology department guidelines
  • Create, modify and install workstation images
  • If chosen, participate in the hiring and training of information technology staff members
  • Know and follow district policy and technology department processes and guidelines
  • Treat district information in a professional manner
  • Maintain and update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; and maintaining personal networks
  • Other department-related duties as assigned by the Administrator of Information Technology
