The Building Systems Technician is a steward of the building systems that allow one of the most sustainable cultural institutions in the world to operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role supports the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that are essential to occupant comfort, life safety, and long-term building performance. More than routine maintenance, this position contributes directly to operational readiness, energy and water performance, and the Library’s sustainability commitments. From preventive maintenance and system inspections to issue identification and documentation, each task supports a building that functions as a living system aligned with Theodore Roosevelt’s values of responsibility, care, and stewardship. Reporting to the Facilities Engineer, the Building Systems Technician works collaboratively with facilities, grounds, environmental services, and sustainability teams to ensure building systems remain safe, resilient, and mission aligned.
