About The Position

We design, install, and maintain advanced electrical systems. Our expertise spans traditional electrical contracting, security solutions, audio-visual integration, wireless networking, and building management systems. Miller Electric -The Electrical Designer II is responsible for the complete design of small‑ to medium‑sized electrical projects with limited oversight from the Engineer of Record. The role relies on strong design judgment, Revit expertise, and advanced code knowledge to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions. The Electrical Designer II works with a high degree of independence and represents Miller Electric in communications with owners, architects, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction. This role is onsite in Jacksonville and does offer relocation

Requirements

  • 5+ years of electrical design and drafting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD experience beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA codes 70, 72, 101, and general engineering practices.
  • Ability to work independently, resolve complex design problems, and collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Build the scope of work using design narratives, drawings, and collaboration with the Senior Engineer, Project Manager, and/or owner.
  • Gather drawings, conduct site investigations, and meet with stakeholders to develop accurate project criteria.
  • Complete the design of building electrical systems for assigned projects.
  • Prepare calculations for equipment sizing and selection.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of NFPA 70, 72, 101, and other applicable codes.
  • Incorporate design changes, owner comments, and code official feedback into project documents.
  • Coordinate design with other disciplines, owners/clients, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Interact with vendors to support design decisions as needed.
  • Set up Revit models, central files, and discipline links.
  • Edit and prepare project specifications for job‑specific requirements.
  • Produce complex, high‑quality engineering drawings and documents.
  • Maintain positive and professional client relationships throughout the design process.
  • Represent Miller Electric in external communications with Owners, Architects, Contractors, and AHJs.
  • Ensure work is completed within project budget, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member on multidisciplinary and complex projects.
