About The Position

Ring & DuChateau is seeking a Building Systems Designer to join our Milwaukee team. This role is ideal for an early- to mid-level professional who enjoys designing integrated building systems (telecommunications, overhead paging, intercom, nurse call and access control to name a few) and wants to grow their technical expertise and project responsibility within a collaborative MEP consulting environment. In this role, you’ll design and coordinate building systems that support safe, connected, and high-performing environments. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and designers from concept through construction, contributing to real projects while continuing to develop your technical and coordination skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2–6 years of experience in building systems, MEP, or technology systems design (flexible based on skill set).
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in applying building codes and industry standards to design work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications (such as RCDD) are not required but supported as part of professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate integrated building systems, including building technology, life safety, communications, and security systems.
  • Translate project requirements into coordinated, code-compliant design solutions.
  • Apply applicable codes, standards, and best practices throughout the design process.
  • Develop construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Participate in project coordination and BIM meetings with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Review product submittals, RFIs, and assist with construction administration activities.
  • Conduct site visits and field observations, documenting conditions and supporting design updates.
  • Maintain accurate, organized project documentation.
  • Support collaboration and knowledge sharing with junior team members, as appropriate.
