About The Position

The Building Supervisor serves as the primary contact and public relations representative for the West Des Moines Community School District during facility usage by citizen groups. This part-time role involves supervising the conduct of these groups, ensuring the security and physical condition of the facilities, and facilitating communication between various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders including citizen groups and district personnel.
  • Experience in public relations or a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple events and services.
  • Ability to monitor and report on facility conditions and security.

  • Experience in facility management or supervision.
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials and their proper use.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as communication and public relations liaison between citizen groups, Group Representatives, community education staff, district personnel, and custodial staff.
  • Review calendar of events and anticipate services needed, working cooperatively to determine additional services and/or manpower needs.
  • Monitor the general condition of the facility before, during, and after scheduled activities, reporting any defects or special needs to custodians and the Facility Use Specialist.
  • Ensure groups adhere to appropriate use of district facilities.
  • Distribute materials and/or equipment, including media equipment, as requested in advance.
  • Answer telephone inquiries as needed.
  • Collect and deposit monies with Community Education as required.
  • Assist citizen groups with cleaning the facility to return it to the desired condition as specified in supervisor duty guidelines.
  • Acquire and return facility keys from Community Education as needed for assignments.
  • Report to the Building Supervisor Specialist on all relevant matters.
  • Attend annual orientation, staff development, and special meetings as assigned.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
