About The Position

This is entry level professional engineering work responsible for supporting assignments requiring the use of basic engineering skills, principles and practices to a wide variety of public works, transportation, construction, and related projects. The Engineer I class of work is typically subtasks associated with larger engineering projects or programs affecting County wide services, structures, and facilities such as highway systems, soil conservation, drainage environmental systems, solid waste facilities, sewers, storm water management systems, pump systems, water and wastewater distribution facilities and operations. The Engineer series is responsible for the administration of County code and ordinances.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the engineering or related scientific field determined by the requirements of the position (e.g., civil, environmental, transportation, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, agricultural, agronomy, chemical, industrial, construction).
• A Professional Engineer (PE) License may be substituted for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Performs entry level engineering sub-task work and develops skills in a wide variety of public works, environment, transportation, construction, and related projects design, construction, and operations, such as assisting with designs, plans, specifications.
• Prepares sub-task engineering designs for smaller structures including buildings or for segments of larger structures.
