About The Position

Housing and Dining Services Facilities at Colorado State University is seeking applications to fill several Building Services Technician I positions to support daily operations. This position is responsible for providing a safe and clean living and learning environment for students, staff and University guests by responding to the daily cleaning and maintenance of housing facilities with a focus on sustainability and customer services. Housing & Dining Facilities is a work unit within Housing and Dining Services which provides care and stewardship for the 2.5+ million square feet of CSU’s living centers and dining facilities. We are a customer-first service organization, delivering a variety of services including skilled labor, environmental services, warehousing, movable assets, renovation and construction oversight, and all associated facilities management functions. Requirements

  • Six months of custodial or laundry experience appropriate to the job assignment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including hauling, lifting, moving, and digging.
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)
  • Pre-employment Physical: Successfully complete the WorkSTEPS evaluation.
  • Essential Services Designation - Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
  • Shift Work This position maybe required to work extended shift hours and/or a modified swing shift to meet departmental staffing requirements.
  • On-call Status - Will be required to carry a communication device and serve On-Call on a rotating basis with other staff and be required to work overtime in response to after-hours service requests.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in both residential and commercial environments.
  • Experience with entering personal living spaces with awareness and good work practices for privacy and discretion of residents and guests.
  • Experience working on a team to complete tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to teach peer Building Services Technicians how to perform tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience using green cleaning chemicals
  • Safety focused and task driven

Responsibilities

  • Keep residential living, learning, and dining environments clean and safe using “green” practices
  • Clean hall and room carpet and hard surface floors in residential living, learning, and dining environments by vacuuming, shampooing, sweeping, mopping, etc.
  • Clean around outside of buildings by picking up trash, sweeping, removing gum, washing sidewalks and snow/ice removal.
  • Dispose of trash/recyclables from internal/external receptacles
  • Perform minor maintenance including but not limited to replacing lamps, minor painting, carpet trimming and drain cleaning.
  • Inspect and service Environmental Services equipment and machinery.
  • Have appropriate social interactions with residents and guests and be aware of their personal space, using appropriate communication and providing programmatic support.
