About The Position

Job Summary: Provide a clean and sanitary environment for the university community which maximizes the usable life of environmental surfaces and contributes to a reduction in overall costs of maintenance and replacement. Section responsibility is assigned to each Building Service Worker. After initial training period he/she is expected to work with only general supervision. Each employee will receive a weekly written section inspection noting general appearance, problem areas and areas that exceed standards. Job Description: To provide a clean and sanitary environment for the University community through the daily, weekly, monthly, break time and specialty cleaning as outlined in the Custodial Manual issued to all Building Service Workers. This includes the maintenance of an assigned section on a daily basis and to perform other related duties as assigned. Floor cleaning using manual (broom, mop) method and machinery that includes large and small scrubbers, walk behind cleaner and buffer. Maintain offices as per Custodial Manual. Maintain classrooms as per Custodial Manual. Empty trash receptacles in assigned section and dispose of in University trash compactor. Maintain rest rooms as per schedule in Custodial Manual. Maintain carpeting through use of machinery including extractor, rotary cleaner/scrubber and manual (hand) method.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. (Verification will be conducted by Human Resources)

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to operate Janitorial machinery
  • Ability to perform duties in public places with a minimum of disturbance and provide safety precautions for occupants
