Building Service Worker (Custodian/Janitor)
About The Position
The University of St. Thomas is hiring full-time, benefits-eligible Building Service Workers (custodial/janitorial roles) to help keep our campuses clean, safe, and welcoming. As part of the Facilities Management team, you’ll play an important role in creating an exceptional experience for our students, staff, and visitors by maintaining cleanliness and upkeep across our St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. The University of St. Thomas will be closed for the holiday season beginning on December 24 and returning January 5. Review of application materials and communication regarding possible next steps will take place in the new year. Schedule 5 consecutive workdays, 2 consecutive days off Shifts are assigned based on department needs and may include at least one weekend day Current Openings: 1st Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM 2nd Shift: 1:45 PM – 10:15 PM 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Requirements
- Experience and working knowledge of proper custodial/janitorial cleaning procedures
- Ability to read and understand instructions plus communicate for purposes of supporting event set-ups and safety procedures with attention to detail
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment physical are conditions of employment for this position.

Responsibilities
- Routine cleaning of assigned buildings which may include but are not limited to offices, athletic facilities, food service areas, classrooms, restrooms in accordance with university safety and quality standards.
- Vacuuming, dusting, washing and disinfecting surfaces, collecting and hauling trash and recyclable removal
- Additional periodic duties may include carpet and hard floor project work, bulb replacement, setting up areas for events, snow removal
- Occasional room set up and tear downs of table and chairs in preparation for college events
- Occasional heavy lifting of furniture and custodial equipment
