The Building Service Technician II position at Dartmouth College involves performing maintenance and repair tasks on academic and administration buildings, structures, and related utilities. This role requires a variety of trade practices including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. The technician will handle scheduled work orders and respond to emergencies, applying a specific level of skill and proficiency in executing these duties. Responsibilities include regular maintenance, minor repairs, and assisting senior technicians with more complex tasks. The position is based in Hanover, NH and is onsite only.

  • Perform maintenance and repair on Dartmouth College buildings and utilities.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks independently.
  • Respond to assigned work orders and perform various upkeep tasks.
  • Request work orders and coordinate with other trades as necessary.
  • Assist senior technicians with complex repairs and participate in new and remodel work.
  • Work with Building Automation Technicians to respond to energy management system alarms.
  • Learn from senior technicians and develop skills in various systems.
  • Mentor Building Service Technician I and explain procedures.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Four-plus years of experience with MEP systems and controls.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to qualify under Dartmouth College Driver Safety policy.
  • Ability to perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, including specialty tools.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to perform demanding physical activity and work in various conditions.
  • Experience with laboratory safety and hazardous waste management.
  • Knowledge of Dartmouth College construction standards.
  • Willingness to obtain further vendor training.
  • Regular full-time employment with a 40-hour work week.
