About The Position

SUMMARY: Upon direction from Manager/Director, shall lead and direct work of others, prepares clear, complete, and accurate detail drawings of parts, weldments, assemblies, and systems.  Designing of parts, weldments, assemblies and systems from rough or detailed sketches is performed routinely. Perform standardized calculations of torque, hydraulic pressure, belt speed, sprocket ratios and horsepower.

Responsibilities

  • Balance workload of Building Projects Team.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure scope of project(s) is clear and defined.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time with minimal errors.
  • Routinely review internal processes and suggest / implement improvements as necessary.
  • Ensure project releases are in compliance with customer order requirements.
  • Interpret customer supplied drawings to compile accurate Bill-of-Materials (BOM).
  • Work cross-functionally to release BOM to production floor, free of defects and with minimal intervention or oversite.
  • Generate accurate 2D and 3D layouts of equipment.
  • Participate in and encourage the highest level of quality, efficiency, and professionalism from co-workers.
  • Maintain and ensure continual compliance with customer product specifications.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on products within the department.
  • Help in the development of all technical and service publications.
  • Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, 2D and 3D as well as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Creates drawings according to current internal, national, international and industry drafting standards.
  • Verify accuracy of drawings; checking dimensions, materials, relationship between parts, and tolerances.
  • Utilizes knowledge of fabrication machines, engineering principles, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to create designs and drawings.
  • Design parts or assemblies based on sketches, discussions, or prior designs.
  • Communicate with other departments to validate design and/or drawings.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Communicate effectively, make presentations, write routine reports, outline instructions, and correspondence.
  • Create charts and spreadsheets to report statistical data.
  • Troubleshoot and validate manufactured product on the production floor.
  • Support and Apply ISO requirements as appropriate.
  • Communicate with vendors and customers as needed.
  • Assist with training of new designers.
