About The Position

A Building Project Coordinator recommends and inspects contract work involving the maintenance, renovation and repair of City-owned buildings. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed at maintenance sites where there are hazards from chemical fumes, steam leaks and heights. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
  • EXPERIENCE: Have 5 years of experience in overseeing building construction and maintenance work including experience in reviewing contract drawings and plans, specifications and preparing cost estimates.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
  • Knowledge of building renovation and maintenance methods and materials.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Ability to prepare cost estimates.
  • Ability to evaluate requests for renovation or maintenance work.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to maintain records and write reports.
