About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations and/or school-based administrator, the Building Operator cleans and maintains offices, halls, classrooms and similar areas in a school building and performs related work as required or assigned. Maintain custodial standards by following district-trained cleaning procedures and supervision of assigned staff. Results will be a safe, clean and efficient building environment. All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• 5 years job related experience (minimum 3 years as supervisor of staff).

Nice To Haves

• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
• Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methods.
• Knowledge of equipment, chemicals, and materials used in cleaning processes.
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to manage personnel.
• Effective planning and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise assigned staff in daily cleaning procedures and projects.
• Conduct building inspections.
• Correct quality problems.
• Unlock facility and make preparation for daily activities.
• Policy grounds.
• Sweep sidewalks, patios and entrances.
• Lower and raise cafeteria tables.
• Oversee cafeteria set-up and clean-up.
• Remove facility trash and place in dumpster. Re-line cans.
• Monitor hallways, restrooms every 1 ½ to 2 hours, and replenish dispensers as needed.
• Manage supply ordering and inventory control.
• Perform carpet and hard surface floor care.
• Keep equipment clean and operable.
