About The Position

This position is responsible for the efficient management, operation and maintenance of the Company's critical facilities including data and control centers. The position will serve as the on-site building engineer for assigned facilities. This position will operate and perform full preventive maintenance on building equipment, monitor and adjust building systems using building management systems, respond to building emergencies as needed, interact with vendors and contractors, perform daily rounds to record/monitor all equipment readings, tour mechanical areas to evaluate equipment operation and parameters on a regular basis, and respond to equipment and building alarm systems as necessary. This position would be part of an incident response team when necessary.

Requirements

  • Technical degree from a trade school focusing on electrical, electrical technology, HVAC/R, facility maintenance, or industrial maintenance
  • 7+ years in facility maintenance / building operations.
  • Must have experience with building management and automation systems (BMS/BAS).

Nice To Haves

  • An understanding of technical electronic equipment and control systems are required.
  • 2+ years of experience in critical facilities, such as data centers, control centers or hospitals.
  • Above average knowledge in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, and proficient in the computer interfaces of equipment in these systems.
  • Good math and troubleshooting skills.
  • Skilled in mechanical, HVAC, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Understands other company programs that interface with data and control center equipment.
  • Ability to interact with client and client employees, senior management, staff, and vendors as a service professional at all times.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site Building Engineer for assigned, critical facilities.
  • Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance on building equipment and equipment control systems that are critical to organizational support.
  • Analyze, diagnose and perform miscellaneous repairs on various types of mission critical building equipment, including, but not limited to, generators, uninterrupted power supplies, power distribution units, HVAC/CRAC units, chillers, cooling towers, and fire suppression.
  • Compile information and generate reports, forms and documents as required to maintain maintenance and repair records on facility equipment and grounds.
  • Respond to building emergencies as needed.
  • Interact with vendors and contractors. Escort vendors and contractors into secured areas as required.
  • Perform daily rounds to evaluate equipment operation and parameters. Monitor building management/automation systems daily.
  • Check building regularly to maintain proper building temperature for critical areas and for electronic equipment areas.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in electrical and mechanical rooms within the facility.
  • Oversee inventory management and control for facilitate maintenance for building systems components and various facility repairs.
  • Help maintain a preventive and predictive maintenance programs in accordance with LG&E/ KU Facility Service guidelines in order to minimize equipment failure and maximize equipment efficiency.
  • Able to read blueprints and technical drawings to see that equipment is documented correctly and will function in the required manner and will conform to company standards.
  • Participates in on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Acting in conjunction with supervision or individually as directed by supervision will assist and/or direct the training of other employees in the correct operating procedures necessary to fully satisfy the classification duties of Building Operations Technician and all lower classifications, including contract maintenance technicians.
  • Serve as a member of the facility emergency response team.
  • Knowledge and enforcement of all Company safety rules, procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
