The Building Monitor at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and appearance of the facility. This part-time role emphasizes the mission and core values of the YMCA, focusing on healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. The Building Monitor will interact with members and the public, enforce facility policies, and maintain a welcoming environment.

  • Contribute to the overall YMCA mission of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
  • Greet members, participants, staff, and the general public in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Enforce YMCA policies and guidelines for various facility areas, including the basketball court and weight room.
  • Verify all members and participants using the facility.
  • Answer phone lines according to YMCA phone procedures.
  • Respond to needs and questions with accurate information.
  • Handle complaints in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Notify appropriate staff of any unsafe conditions, complaints, needed repairs, incidents, or accidents immediately.
  • Give tours and educate members and prospective members on services, programs, events, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Keep gym, basketball court, walking/running track, weight room, and circuit room clean and well organized.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Good communication skills, including phone etiquette.
  • Ability to make independent and sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
  • Positive attitude.
