JOB TITLE: Building Materials Estimating Manager JOB LOCATION: Lindon, UT EXEMPTION STATUS: Salary (Exempt) REPORTING TO: Building Components Design Manager FUNCTION: Manages the processes for estimating building materials. Provides leadership, training and mentoring for the team.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of building material estimating process.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
  • Knowledge of current local codes associated with building material supplies.
  • Demonstrate initiative and reliability.
  • Analytical thinking skills and detail oriented.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 + years experience in residential/commercial construction industry.
  • Experience in material "take off" processes and software.
  • Demonstrates high level of estimating capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
  • Provide leadership, training and mentoring to the estimating team.
  • Handles complex tasks and issues for the team.
  • Directs the work of the team and has full authority for personnel decisions.
  • Assesses cost effectiveness of building materials products.
  • Collaborate with lumber, truss and other departments to achieve business objectives.
  • Tracks actual quantities based on previous projects to improve accuracy.
  • Estimate building materials requirements using approved software while ensuring conformity to standards.
  • Generate and provide accurate material quantities for estimating purposes.
  • Generate layout and/or location specific material needs for construction.
  • Use Bistrack Software for tracking and processing take off and estimating information.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Provide job-site support, with the aid of sales department, when requested.
  • Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.
