About The Position

Beautiful, Newly Renovated Sonesta Columbus Downtown is looking for Building Maintenance. A Hotel Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems within the hotel. They perform routine maintenance tasks, respond to guest requests, and ensure the overall upkeep and appearance of the property. Job Description Key Responsibilities: Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical systems to ensure their proper functioning. Repairs: Diagnose and repair equipment and systems such as lighting, plumbing fixtures, appliances, and HVAC units to resolve issues promptly. Drywall repair, and Paint. Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Guest Service: Respond to guest requests and resolve maintenance issues in guest rooms, public areas, and common facilities with courtesy and efficiency. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inventory. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are well-maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition. Supplier Communication: Communicate with suppliers and vendors for equipment servicing and parts procurement as necessary. Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities for energy-saving measures and recommend improvements to reduce utility costs. Teamwork: Collaborate with other hotel staff, including housekeeping, front desk, and management, to provide a seamless guest experience. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, preferably in a hotel or similar hospitality setting.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general maintenance tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Comfort working in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Climbing ladders and working at heights may be required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
