About The Position

Assists with general maintenance and cleaning for buildings and grounds. Performs semi-skilled work to support facilities including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other repairs. Requirements

• At least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance work practices and procedures
• Knowledge of general building cleaning procedures
• Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and gardening
• Knowledge of cleaning solutions
• Skill in organization and time management
• Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
• Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries
• Ability to prepare and maintain records of repair work
• Ability to use applicable equipment and machinery
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.
• Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs general building and grounds maintenance work; cleans, disinfects, and maintains restrooms; maintains equipment used to perform work.
• Paints walls and fixtures; moves chairs and tables to set-up special group meetings and trainings.
• Assists in the maintenance of air-conditioners and heating systems in accordance with accepted practices and procedures; performs minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
• Performs carpentry activities including painting and masonry work as needed.
• Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
