About The Position

William Paterson University is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Full-Time Building Maintenance Worker. The building custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of assigned buildings on campus. The schedule will include 4 days in the week and 1 day on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Physical stamina to perform job duties such as lifting and moving furniture, walking, standing, and bending for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work evening or weekend shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular cleaning duties to ensure a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
• Empty all trash cans and recycling bins, safeguarding proper disposal and adherence to recycling guidelines.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
• Maintain the appearance of floors and carpets by sweeping, mopping, buffing, and vacuuming as necessary.
• Regularly sanitize high touch surfaces such as doorknobs, handrails, light switches, and elevator buttons.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment for events and meetings as needed.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Collaborate with other custodial staff for consistent and efficient cleaning practices throughout the campus.
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
