Building Maintenance Technician
About The Position
MMS Group is seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Technician for a 150-unit residential property located in Peoria, IL. This role involves maintaining residential apartment homes and other areas on the property, including building exteriors, interiors, and public areas. Responsibilities include performing small appliance, plumbing, electrical, and other repairs, installing tile and laminate flooring, and managing the turnover of empty apartment units (including repairs like sheetrock, taping, sanding, painting, and fixing doors, windows, light fixtures). The technician will also take part in an on-call rotation schedule to respond to emergency calls after hours. MMS Group and its affiliates have fifty years of experience in quality property management, managing a portfolio exceeding 40,000 residential units.
Requirements
- Three+ years of residential multifamily property management/apartment maintenance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Fire Safety Certification.
- Possession of basic tools needed to perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Physical aspects of the job may require heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, balancing, and carrying.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities
- Maintain residential apartment homes and other areas on the property, including building exteriors, interiors, and public areas, regularly.
- Perform small appliance, plumbing, electrical, and other repairs in residential apartments and other areas of the property.
- Install tile and laminate flooring.
- Take part in the on-call rotation schedule, responding to emergency calls according to the company's policy on after-hour emergency calls.
- Manage the turnover of empty apartment units, including repairs (e.g., sheetrock, taping, sanding, painting, and fixing doors, windows, light fixtures, etc.).
- Perform other duties as outlined in the job description.
