About The Position

The Building Maintenance Technician I at Carroll University is responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance tasks to ensure campus facilities are safe, clean, and available for use. This role involves general carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and appliance repair, among other duties, while fostering positive relationships within the university community.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in general maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • PC proficient; experience with Office 365 preferred.
  • Understanding of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge with maintenance management system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of skilled maintenance for campus facilities.
  • Ensure facilities are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
  • Conduct general carpentry, drywall, plaster, painting, cabinetry, flooring, and appliance repair.
  • Handle basic lock and door hardware, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Utilize maintenance and repair tools effectively and safely.
  • Identify and report life safety and maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Comply with University facility standards of conduct.
  • Accomplish work orders through facility maintenance software.
  • Maintain records on fixed asset expenditures.
  • Assist with project work scopes for building maintenance projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
