What this job involves: The Building Maintenance Specialist supports JLL's commitment to exceptional client service by maintaining facility operations with specialized expertise in carpentry, drywall repair, and furnishing installation/maintenance. This role ensures facilities remain functional, aesthetically pleasing, and aligned with JLL's high standards of quality and safety. This position is also responsible for the general maintenance of an office/lab environment and works daily with the Operations and Maintenance teams to provide excellent customer service to our client.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years of related working experience
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of computer systems and software such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for a prolonged period of time

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification or vocational training in carpentry, construction, or related field
  • Experience with automatic door systems, hand wave sensors, and electronic access controls
  • Knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Experience working in laboratory or office environments with specialized requirements
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • OSHA safety certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with furniture assembly and office space reconfiguration
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and LEED principles

Responsibilities

  • Execute skilled carpentry work including framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, and woodworking repairs to maintain building integrity
  • Perform drywall installation, patching, finishing, and texturing to uphold facility appearance standards
  • Install, repair, relocate, and maintain office furnishings and fixtures according to client specifications
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks and respond to work orders in accordance with service level agreements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve general maintenance issues across multiple building systems
  • Experience with door repairs a plus (Automatic Operators, Hand Wave Sensors)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and material usage
  • Adhere to JLL safety protocols and procedures at all times
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours emergencies
  • Support sustainability initiatives through proper waste disposal and efficient resource utilization
