About The Position

Join our team in Maplewood as a full-time Building Maintenance Specialist! This position serves a critical role in the clinic as they oversee the maintenance, repair, and operations of our facilities. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to inspecting and maintaining HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; performing general building and grounds upkeep; managing specialized dental equipment maintenance; and coordinating with vendors for repairs and services. Who We Are Community Dental Care is Minnesota's largest provider of comprehensive dental care for people of all ages on public programs. We operate five clinics across the state, including the Twin Cities, Rochester and Buffalo.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in facilities management or project management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organization
  • Proactive, service-oriented approach to work projects
  • Experience with building infrastructure, facility maintenance, and vendor management
  • Proven track record in managing projects involving many parties/vendors
  • Familiarity with government regulations and standards for health care facilities

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs for interior and exterior building systems across all locations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Identify signs of wear and tear on facility equipment and address promptly.
  • Maintain logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and scheduled service.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized or large-scale repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, inspections, and safety standards (e.g., elevator maintenance, RPZ testing, fire extinguishers/sprinklers).
  • Handle vendor communication for seasonal sprinkler maintenance (Carlton and Rochester).
  • Contact vendors and manage scheduling for window washing and exterior upkeep.
  • Learn and perform basic dental equipment repairs (e.g., Ramvac compressors, air filters)
  • Change oil and air filters in dental compressors at all locations per schedule (filters quarterly, oil biannually).
  • Contact vendors for services such as distiller filter replacements or pest control as needed.
  • Program security fobs and alarm codes; export camera footage upon request.
  • Assist in setting up new computers and printers, coordinate with Managed Service Provider for system configuration.
  • Recycle old computers through appropriate vendors.
  • Lawn mowing, trimming, snow removal, salting of sidewalks when services are delayed.
  • General exterior cleanup and trash removal.
  • Power wash windows and exterior surfaces.
  • Patch parking lot potholes and maintain exterior surfaces.
  • Respond to building emergencies or urgent issues after hours, particularly for Maplewood evening coverage.
