About The Position

Under general supervision, the Floor Support Technician is responsible for keeping campus areas free of accumulated waste and debris. This position also operates floor scrubbers, parking lot sweeper trucks, ramp FOD collectors, forklifts and hauling equipment. The Floor Support Technician also ensures all waste, hazardous waste, and recycling is transported and separated at the appropriate dumpster or waste/recycling collection station.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid local state driver’s license required.
  • Forklift certification required (must obtain certification within 60 days of hire).
  • Previous work in an aerospace environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Foreign Object Debris walk and sweep in hangar bays and tarmac, using powered equipment.
  • Picks up and disposes of all trash in operational campus areas including hangar floor, back shop areas, components floor and exterior campus.
  • Empties all outside trash cans.
  • Sweeps around entryways and designated smoke areas.
  • Picks up and recycles or disposes of all scrap wood, cardboard and other refuse.
  • Coordinates disposal of scrap metal.
  • Cleans sanding rooms and removes accumulated sanding debris from drawers while following all appropriate safety procedures.
  • Performs separation solid hazardous waste collection and segregation on hangar and shop floors.
  • Shovels and sweeps snow when needed.
  • Notifies Lead of any blood borne pathogen or pest control issues.
  • Proactively supports continuous improvement efforts and adheres to 5S and standard work requirements.
  • Assists EH&S efforts to sanitize all high-touch areas on campus to prevent highly contagious illnesses from spreading.
  • Perform safety inspection and replenish eye wash stations as required.
  • Provides assistance to wastewater treatment operator as directed.
  • Replaces illegible labels on chemical bottles, restocks carts from storage area, and returns empty bottles to assigned location.
  • Operates forklifts, golf carts, sweepers, scissor lifts, etc. as assigned in accordance with the safety training program.
  • Performs service checks on floor support equipment, including sweepers, compactors, baler, carts, etc. Notifies Lead of any operational issues.
