About The Position

The school maintenance engineer is responsible for cleaning, repairing, protecting, and maintaining the school’s facilities on both campuses. This role performs various trades throughout the day including, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywalling, and painting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a trade (Electrical, HVAC, painting, plumbing, etc....).
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in English is required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • The ability to operate a computer and navigate through Microsoft Office and emails.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and must be insurable by the school’s insurance company.
  • Applicants must pass an FBI and California background check as well as test negative for TB.

Nice To Haves

  • A Certification in any field is a plus.
  • Interpret shop drawings, floor plans, electrical schematics, and other documents that detail information about our buildings.
  • Possess the ability to drive a vehicle (Car, forklift, scissor lift, etc....).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Routine Inspections: Regularly inspect school buildings and grounds for potential maintenance issues, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural components.
  • HVAC System Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including replacing filters, cleaning coils and condensate lines, and troubleshooting.
  • Plumbing Maintenance: Inspect and repair plumbing systems, including fixing leaks, unclogging drains, changing water filters, repairing toilets, sinks, and faucets.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Maintain electrical systems, including lighting, circuit breakers, power outlets, and other electrical devices. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Drywalling and Painting repairs: Repair damaged walls with the proper compound, appropriate prep areas for repairs or painting, sanding, and perform proper painting techniques.
  • Assemble Furniture: Understand how to read manufacturers assembly guides. Assemble furniture ranging from desks/tables, chairs, risers, and anything else that may arise.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Work through assigned preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Work Order Management: Regularly check work orders throughout the day using a computer or mobile device. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for updating and closing out work orders they assigned to.
  • Safety Guidelines: Perform work under OSHA compliances and ensure that the proper PPE is being used depending on the job.
  • Reporting: Report any safety or hazardous conditions around campus to the Plant Supervisor immediately.
  • Additional Responsibilities: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for helping other departments (events, custodians, etc...) when they are needed.
  • Attend all departmental meetings and attend school wide meetings when applicable.
