Administration of Environmental Quality Programs

The position involves conducting inspections related to building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation to ensure compliance with the Town's zoning ordinances and building codes. The role requires a highly motivated individual who embodies the Town's Core Values of Integrity, Customer Service, Efficiency, and Innovation, and is responsible for both residential and commercial development inspections.

  • Conduct inspections of public and private construction for compliance with plans, standards, specifications, regulations, permits, zoning, and Town code ordinances.
  • Review and approve plans for zoning and code compliance, including irrigation, pool, accessory structures, and remodels.
  • Consult with contractors, builders, property owners, and officials to recommend changes and provide instruction for avoidance or correction of deficiencies and violations.
  • Prepare and issue verbal warnings, violation notices, and stop work orders for non-compliance with Town standards.
  • Maintain records of completed inspections and enter results into the computer system.
  • Respond to requests for code interpretation and application from contractors and property owners.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with TCEQ and code compliance for irrigation.
  • Attend meetings and address concerns of interested parties.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years prior experience with municipal inspections and plan review or equivalent trade-related experience.
  • Must be bondable and possess a valid State Plumbing Inspector License or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
  • Two ICC Certifications in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical field within 12 months of employment are required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License is necessary.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bilingual is a plus.
  • ICC Residential Combination Inspector Certification preferred.
  • Skills in coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments.
