The Building Inspector at Universal Engineering Sciences (UES) plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building codes and standards through detailed inspections of construction projects. This position requires a reliable and trustworthy individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing collaboration with autonomy. The inspector will be responsible for performing technical inspections across various building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, while maintaining accurate records and reports.

  • Perform Structural Building Inspection duties (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing as licensed).
  • Inspect residential buildings under construction or being remodeled to ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Determine necessary changes in plans and make recommendations to contractors and engineers.
  • Inspect foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction work.
  • Maintain accurate and complete inspection records.
  • Prepare reports and report data in a timely manner.
  • Complete daily time and labor reports according to company policy.
  • Oversee maintenance of the company vehicle.
  • Ensure project requirements are met and compliant with inspection specifications.
  • Attend all department meetings and drive to various job sites throughout Florida.
  • Follow all driving laws when operating the company vehicle.
  • Work varying shift schedules as needed, including overnight and weekends.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act.
  • State of Florida Standard Building Inspector License is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Computer skills sufficient to operate a laptop and learn Field Data Collection software.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations.
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
