About The Position

The Building Inspector is responsible for enforcing the International Building Code, International Residential Code, and City ordinances through on-site inspections of commercial and residential structures at all construction stages. This role ensures compliance with building regulations and involves various administrative duties related to construction activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certification.
• Minimum of five years' experience in commercial, residential, and existing building construction.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one prior to hire.
• Certification as a Residential Building Inspector, Commercial Building Inspector, or an approved certification through the International Code Council (ICC) within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of commercial and residential structures to ensure compliance with building codes and ordinances.
• Enforce the International Building Code, International Residential Code, and International Existing Building Code.
• Perform administrative duties related to residential and commercial construction activities.
• Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with applicable codes.
• Provide guidance and support to contractors and builders regarding code requirements.
