The Building Inspector for the Town of Little Elm is responsible for conducting inspections related to building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and irrigation to ensure compliance with zoning ordinances and building codes. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service and adherence to the Town's core values of Integrity, Customer Service, Efficiency, and Innovation. The inspector will work closely with contractors, builders, and property owners to ensure that all construction meets the required standards and regulations.

  • Conduct inspections of public and private construction for compliance with plans, standards, specifications, and regulations.
  • Review and approve plans for zoning and code compliance, including irrigation, pools, and accessory structures.
  • Consult with contractors and property owners to recommend changes and provide instruction for compliance.
  • Prepare and issue violation notices and stop work orders for non-compliance with Town standards.
  • Maintain records of completed inspections and enter results into the computer system.
  • Respond to requests for code interpretation from contractors and property owners.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with TCEQ and other regulations.
  • Attend meetings to address concerns of interested parties.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with municipal inspections and plan review or equivalent trade-related experience.
  • Valid State Plumbing Inspector License required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Two ICC Certifications in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical field within 12 months of employment preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; bilingual is a plus.
  • ICC Residential Combination Inspector Certification preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
