About The Position

Under supervision, the Building Inspector - Plant is responsible for conducting inspections of manufactured housing production facilities to ensure compliance with federal and state building codes, construction standards, and quality assurance procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of job-related experience.
• Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
• Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections at manufacturing plants to verify compliance with HUD standards and state regulations, construction, and safety.
• Monitor and evaluate plant production processes, including materials, construction methods, and quality control systems.
• Identify and document deficiencies, noncompliance issues, or violations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records of findings, corrective actions, and follow-ups.
• Coordinate with plant personnel, third-party inspection agencies, and state/federal regulatory bodies as necessary.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturers regarding interpretation of HUD and state construction standards.
• Attend training sessions, workshops, and meetings to remain current on changes in manufactured housing standards and inspection procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
