About The Position

Bureau Veritas is seeking a licensed Building Plans Examiner and Inspector for inspection and plan review services of construction projects. The role involves interpreting and applying regulations related to customer relations, reviewing building construction blueprints, product approvals, shop drawings, and other project documents. Some travel may be required for inspections and managing projects in the assigned area. Candidates must possess a professional demeanor, have both technical and industry experience, and be a team player.

Requirements

  • Licensed General Contractor for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in building, or State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in building, or ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in building.
  • Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development.
  • Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate project proposals and projects under construction to verify conformance with code requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts examination of building permit applications, including blueprints, specifications, surveys, product approvals and shop drawings for compliance with the Florida Building Code.
  • Prepare written and electronic reports and issue notices of correction.
  • Recognize, evaluate and properly resolve unique problems or situations.
  • Meet with design professionals, contractors and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues during the plan review process.
  • Prepare and maintain all required records and reports.
  • Inspect buildings and other facilities for compliance with the Florida Building Code.
  • Respond to inquiries from homeowners/property owners, contractors, architects, engineers regarding codes and review procedures.
  • Perform general administrative/office work as required.
  • Review permits for residential and commercial to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
  • Enforce and explain pertinent sections of the applicable codes.
  • Issue verbal and written notices of code violation and citations for code violations.
  • Assist in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues.
  • Maintain records and documents of customer service issues and resolutions.
  • Research problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential work and code compliance.
  • Maintain high ethical, honesty and moral standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
