The Building & Grounds Coordinator at the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine (CMTM) is responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the museum's building and grounds. This role serves as the primary handyperson, coordinating maintenance schedules, vendor communications, and safety protocols while supporting visitor engagement and operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate building and grounds maintenance and cleaning schedules.
  • Communicate with building vendors including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and cleaning services.
  • Ensure the safety of CMTM's Design Shop and train staff on tool use and safety.
  • Assist with annual and project-based contracts for vendors and track expenses related to the Building & Grounds budget.
  • Train new Building & Grounds Associates and Assistants.
  • Perform hands-on building repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Support Exhibits and Theatre teams with tool use and maintenance needs.
  • Regularly clean and organize CMTM's design shop and monitor janitorial supplies.
  • Inspect the building for damage and hazards, facilitating repairs as needed.
  • Set up and clean up for events and rentals.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with building repairs, including safe use of power tools and basic plumbing, HVAC, and electrical understanding.
  • Direct experience with children ages 0-14 is a plus.
  • Comfort with Google Suite and Google Calendar is a plus.
  • Experience in woodworking, wall patching, and basic painting.
  • Ability to work as a team player and meet deadlines.
  • $24.25 per hour plus $7,000 annual benefit pay for cafeteria plan of benefits.
