Building Envelope Sr. Associate

About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Associate with 10+ years of experience in existing building envelope design/field work. The work will include field investigations, envelopes assessment (walls, roofs, and below-grade waterproofing), analysis and design, interaction with clients, and other design and construction professionals. The successful candidate will support the Boston Office Principals and work on a variety of challenging projects including new buildings, historical restoration, and renovation of existing buildings. Completes feasibility studies by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements; conducting site investigations; identifying and establishing performance standards; preparing construction documents and submittals. Organizes multiple design projects by identifying short-term and long-range issues; preparing timetables, cost estimates, and required resources. Verifies and supports construction by performing compliance inspections and tests; resolving construction problems; coordinating and conferring with construction and production contractors. Act as a primary technical point of contact with clients, subconsultants and other project team members. Direct contractors and testing companies during investigative test phase(s). Determine appropriate solutions within budgetary constraints. Develop comprehensive plans, details, and specifications for bidding (understanding of MA Public Bidding Laws is required). Oversee bidding process (both public and private). Construction administration, including field/ site visits and the ability to solve problems that may arise during construction. Support proposal efforts, develop project scopes and identify business opportunities. Support project controller with monthly billing review, approval/ disapproval of vendor invoices, budget, schedule, resource and job cost monitoring. Effectively communicate with Principals-in-Charge (PIC) regarding contract documents, change orders, contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services related to billing. Assess and pursue opportunities for maximization of client billing w PIC or Division leader approval Perform additional assignments as directed by your manager

Requirements

  • Minimum BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering and MA professional registration required.
  • Minimum Ten (10) years of experience in the industry
  • Experience with Massachusetts Public Procurement Regulations
  • Experienced with AutoCAD or Revit and computer aided design and project management platforms.
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of standard contract terms, including hourly, lump sum, and not-to-exceed and how they are applied in the billing process
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion
  • Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report issues to management when necessary
  • Strong service orientation
  • Knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment
