We are currently seeking an experienced Building Envelope Project Manager to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to lead impactful projects, mentor staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients across a diverse portfolio of building types. Based in either our Columbus, Jacksonville, or Baltimore offices. As a Building Envelope Project Manager, you will lead both routine and complex projects from initial assessment through design and construction administration. You’ll balance technical excellence with project management, client communication, and team leadership. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys collaboration, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality work.

Requirements

  • Licensed Architect or Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred.
  • First professional degree in architecture or engineering, plus:
  • Engineers: 6+ years in architecture/engineering with 2+ years of building envelope consulting, OR equivalent experience.
  • Architects: 8+ years combined academic and professional experience in building envelope practice.
  • Commitment to earning or holding RRC, REWC, or RWC certifications.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project; AutoCAD/Revit strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to conduct roof and façade work using scaffolding, staging, and aerial lifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to forensic evaluation of moisture intrusion, air leakage, and thermal performance issues.
  • Advanced technical writing skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, client-facing reports.
  • Experience supporting ROM cost estimates or capital planning for building envelope repairs or restoration.
  • Strong attention to detail when documenting field conditions through photographs, field notes, and sketches.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, leading project communications and coordination.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and staffing to ensure successful delivery.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, supporting professional development and technical growth.
  • Coordinate and oversee subconsultants to ensure alignment with project objectives and deliverables.
  • Lead and actively participate in the preparation of detailed construction drawings and technical specifications related to building envelope systems.
  • Conduct design meetings, material evaluations, and code reviews to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform on-site field assessments and, as required, forensic investigations to evaluate existing building envelope conditions using appropriate testing and diagnostic methods.
  • Prepare clear, well-organized assessment and investigation reports documenting findings, identifying probable root causes, and recommending remedial strategies.
  • Develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates to support client decision-making and capital planning.
  • Manage construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, site visits, and project meetings.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of project decisions and communications.
  • Partner with leadership to identify risks, opportunities, and strategies that support project success and profitability.
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates in collaboration with business development and marketing teams.
  • Assist with invoicing and project financial tracking.
  • Represent PRIME AE at client meetings, industry events, and conferences.
  • Pursue or maintain professional certifications such as RRC, REWC, or RWC.
  • Contribute to technical presentations, articles, or internal knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in professional organizations and support the continued growth of the Building Envelope practice.
