Building Engineer Trainee – JLL What this job involves: Join JLL's facilities management team as a Building Engineer Trainee where you'll play a crucial role in maintaining safe, efficient, and high-performing building operations. This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment while developing your technical skills in a collaborative environment. You'll contribute directly to JLL's commitment to excellence in property management by ensuring facilities operate at peak performance standards while maintaining the highest safety and compliance requirements. This role offers growth potential within JLL's facilities management operations and provides hands-on experience across multiple building systems. What your day-to-day will look like:

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Physical capability to lift at least 50 pounds and safely operate ladders up to 12 feet
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and documentation in an organized manner
  • Availability for call-in work and flexible scheduling to meet facility operational needs
  • Strong team collaboration skills and willingness to learn new systems and procedures
  • Demonstrated reliability and commitment to maintaining safe work environments

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, or large mechanical equipment
  • Familiarity with compressed air systems and industrial equipment maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of fire and life safety systems maintenance and compliance requirements
  • Experience working in commercial or industrial facility environments
  • Technical certifications or specialized training in building systems
  • Understanding of hazardous materials handling and safety protocols

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, fire, and life safety systems to maintain facility standards
  • Complete general maintenance tasks including painting, locksmith work, electrical repairs, facility rounds, and other assigned maintenance duties
  • Assist operational staff with building equipment repair and maintenance under appropriate supervision
  • Monitor and maintain compressed air systems and their supporting components while ensuring optimal performance
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work in organized documentation systems and manage inventory of tools and supplies
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal while maintaining clean work environments
  • Respond to call-in work requirements and collaborate with team members to address facility needs promptly
