About The Position

Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, seeks a Building Engineer. This individual will be a key member of our engineering staff, working under limited supervision, performing all maintenance duties and responding to work orders, tenant calls and other operational/administrative duties for an urban office building in Boston. Requirements

  • 3-5 years work experience in building maintenance and operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic controls system, EMS and other building mechanical systems.
  • Refrigeration or Electrical license a plus but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors building system operations and performance.
  • Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.
  • Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
  • Performs repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
  • Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Reviews assigned work orders and estimates time and materials needed to complete repair.
  • Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
  • Manages an energy management program to ensure efficient operation of all systems.
  • Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
