The Building Emissions Performance Standards (BEPS) Technical Advisor position within the City of Seattle's Office of Sustainability & Environment is a crucial role dedicated to supporting successful policy roll-out and implementation, and future compliance needs for the new BEPS law. This law requires about 4,000 large existing buildings to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet net-zero emissions by 2050, making it a leading City action to address the climate crisis. Our team is recruiting applicants who can manage complex projects in fast-paced political environments and interpret technical information and policies related to building systems, electrification, and decarbonization. You'll use your understanding to convey policy recommendations, including equity impacts and alternative scenarios, to team members, leadership, City partners, building owners, and service providers, so that they understand what actions to take. We are looking for applicants who are comfortable presenting complex information to laypeople and fielding tough questions.
