About The Position

The Bureau of General Services is seeking to fill one (1) Building Control Supervisor vacancy for the Department of Administrative and Financial Services, Property Management Division. The role involves planning, scheduling, and directing the work of Building Control Technicians, trades personnel, and vendor technicians engaged in the operation, installation, or repair of automated building control/security and related Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Additional responsibilities include system troubleshooting and maintenance, adjusting system programs, and documenting system operation and performance. The work is performed under general supervision.

Requirements

  • An Associates Degree from an accredited educational institution in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, a related HVAC trade, or other related area.
  • Three (3) years experience with HVAC and/or security systems.
  • At least one (1) year of experience operating an automated building control/security system.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Honeywell or comparable Building Operations Security System (BOSS) and interrelated equipment.
  • Knowledge of large building heating, ventilation and security systems.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics as it applies to Honeywell or similar BOSS interfaces, sensors, and controls.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and building security systems components.
  • Knowledge of peak electrical load times and building occupancy schedules in the Capitol Complex.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, schedules, monitors, and evaluates the work of Building Control Technicians and/or other subordinate trades personnel.
  • Monitors and adjusts automated building control/security systems to ensure environmental conditions remain within prescribed guidelines.
  • Provides training and technical support to Building Control Technicians.
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records of energy usage, system problems, and maintenance.
  • Installs new equipment and/or interfaces existing equipment to automated systems.
  • Monitors and makes determinations concerning after-hours building entry requests.
  • Maintains system documentation including procedural and technical manuals.
  • Oversees and coordinates the work of subordinates or vendor personnel engaged in the installation or upgrade of automated and security systems.
  • Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures, and practices.
