About The Position

ECS is hiring a Building Code Compliance Project Manager in Fort Myers, FL. This person will provide building code compliance inspections and plan review support for active construction projects. You will manage inspection scopes, schedule and budget performance, and client communication, while serving as the technical go-to for inspectors and project teams on Florida Building Code (FBC) requirements. This is a strong fit for someone who has worked as a building inspector, plans examiner, or trade inspector and wants broader project ownership and a clear path into program leadership.

Requirements

  • Active Florida DBPR BN#.
  • Certified in at least 1 trade: Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, or Electrical.
  • 5+ years of building inspection experience.
  • ICC certifications such as M2, P2, E2, or other specialty inspector certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for local travel, with some regional travel as needed.
  • Ability to perform field work, including climbing and working in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Multiple Florida trade certifications.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or leading inspectors in the field.
  • Experience with proposal preparation, fee estimating, and client-facing delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage building inspection projects from proposal through closeout, including scope, schedule, staffing, budget tracking, and client communication.
  • Review construction documents for code compliance, including plan sets, revisions, specifications, and shop drawings as required.
  • Support Florida Building Code (FBC) compliance through field verification, inspection sequencing, re-inspection coordination, and documentation of corrective actions.
  • Conduct inspections within your licensed trade scope as needed, including site walks, punch lists, and verification of life-safety and accessibility-related items where applicable.
  • Provide technical support to clients and site teams, including responses to RFIs and field questions related to inspection findings and corrective actions.
  • Monitor project performance and budgetary conditions, identify risk early, and resolve technical and administrative issues.
  • Prepare proposals and fee estimates, define inspection scope and deliverables, and support change scope discussions when project conditions shift.
  • Attend pre-construction and project site meetings, document action items, and coordinate next steps with stakeholders.
  • Mentor and train building inspectors, including inspection consistency, report quality, safety practices, and client-facing communication.
  • Support marketing and business development by maintaining client relationships, participating in client meetings, and identifying repeat and adjacent service opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate project records and inspection deliverables, including inspection reports, photos, field notes, meeting notes, and client communications.
