About The Position

Ipswich Public Schools is seeking a dependable and flexible Building-Based Substitute to join our team. This individual will work in one assigned school building each day, filling in for teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff as needed. When not covering a classroom, the Building-Based Substitute will support students and staff in various capacities throughout the school.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt to a variety of classroom environments and grade levels.
Reliability, punctuality, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

Provide daily classroom coverage in the absence of the regular teacher or paraprofessional.
Deliver lesson plans and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
Support students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
Assist with supervision duties (e.g., hallways, lunch, recess) as assigned.
Collaborate with building staff to support instructional and non-instructional activities.
Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.
