Position Overview: Based in our Fargo or Alexandria offices, we are seeking a Building Automation Technician – Level 4 (Senior / Lifecycle Commissioning Authority) to join our team. The Building Automation Technician – Level 4 is responsible for long-term building performance, life-cycle commissioning strategies, and advanced optimization. This role protects and enhances the owner’s operational investment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, committed to quality, and eager to contribute to our growing team. Requirements

  • 10+ years BAS, commissioning, or energy engineering experience
  • Proven lifecycle commissioning success
  • Expert-level BAS and HVAC system knowledge
  • Strong data analysis and systems thinking
  • Energy engineering and optimization expertise
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications preferred (CxA, PE, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Leads commissioning and optimization efforts for building automation systems, including seasonal, continuous, and retro-commissioning studies.
  • Monitors performance KPIs, analyzes long-term trends, recommends operational and capital improvements, and supports energy and sustainability initiatives.
  • Mentors Levels 1–3 staff, provides executive-level reporting, and travels to project sites for start-up, integration, and training.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, maintains expert product knowledge, and delivers technical training to salespeople, estimators, and engineers, ensuring high system performance and team development.
