Position Overview: Based in our Fargo or Alexandria offices, we are seeking a Building Automation Technician – Level 2 to join our team. The Building Automation Technician – Level 2 (Equipment Commissioning Specialist) ensures individual pieces of HVAC equipment operate safely and according to defined sequences of operation. This role bridges installation and system integration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, committed to quality, and eager to contribute to our growing team. Requirements

  • 3–6 years BAS or HVAC controls experience
  • Strong HVAC system knowledge
  • Ability to interpret sequences of operation
  • Familiarity with BAS programming environments
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturer programming certification preferred
  • Prior Level 1 commissioning experience

Responsibilities

  • supports the installation, start-up, and maintenance of building automation systems with a focus on equipment-level operation
  • assists with testing sequences of operation
  • performing startup and functional checks on HVAC equipment
  • validating alarms and safeties
  • tuning control loops and setpoints
  • works closely with TAB contractors and mechanical teams
  • helps resolve equipment-specific control issues
  • supports Level 3 system testing
  • travels to project sites for start-up, integration, and training services
  • assists with troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
  • develops a strong understanding of building automation products and systems
  • On-the-job training is provided to help grow technical skills and support career development.
