About The Position

Building Automation Summer Internship Princeton University Facilities Operations is pleased to offer a summer internship opportunity for aspiring university students who are interested in a potential career in the field of Building Controls and Automation. The student will have an excellent opportunity to learn from the Maintenance and Engineering staff and gain experience in the day-to-day operations of a large university facilities organization. Hourly Rate: $25.00 Included with this position will be the option of receiving housing on campus for the employment period along with meals.

Requirements

  • Must be a university student, over eighteen years of age in good academic standing. Students who are majoring in or have completed a course of study in Building Automation Systems or Energy Management, are preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the principle duties, tasks, physical demands, and responsibilities of the position.
  • Possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Must possess computer systems competency and have familiarity of Microsoft Office Software Suite.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual, who pursues innovation.
  • Must be able to work a forty-hour week.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for 2 hours at one time and up to 4 hours per day.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or stairs, bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead (5 to 10%) of the work day.
  • Must be able to work at a computer work station for extended periods and have visual ability, plus hand and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.

  • Students who are majoring in or have completed a course of study in Building Automation Systems or Energy Management, are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with a number of functional subgroups within the Facilities Operations structure, which may include: HVAC Control Shop, Campus Energy Control Center, and Engineering and Campus Energy.
  • Work alongside Senior DDC Technicians in the performance of maintenance related activities.
  • Work alongside Console System Operators in the Campus Energy Control System.
  • Work with the Controls Engineers in the development and implementation of Campus Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Interact with Facilities Senior Leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
