About The Position

As a department manager in the HVAC and controls industry, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional HVAC controls and mechanical service, repair, and installation to our commercial clients. All employees are expected to assist in other roles within their abilities from time to time. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional looking to advance their career and join a dynamic team. Manage highly technical accounts and projects. Direct the efficient installation of contractual obligations. Recognize growth customers; sell, estimate, and manage safety & production in these continuing relationships on a turnkey basis. Work closely with other department supervisors/managers to assure customer and employee satisfaction and accurate manpower planning.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in commercial or industrial HVAC systems and controls.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and department operations.
  • Demonstrated P&L responsibility and financial management experience.
  • Experience with HVAC control system design and programming.
  • Strong understanding of building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control sequences.
  • Experience in preparing project estimates, budgets, and customer proposals.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full P&L responsibility for the HVAC controls department, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Drive departmental growth through sales development, customer relationships, and repeat-business opportunities.
  • Ensure the department meets or exceeds annual revenue and profit targets.
  • Develop budgets, estimates, and customer proposals for new and existing projects.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining long-term client partnerships.
  • Oversee the design, programming, installation, startup, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC control systems.
  • Ensure proper implementation of HVAC control sequences including: Economizer control Zone temperature control Discharge air temperature control Water temperature control
  • Provide technical leadership in the configuration and integration of digital thermostats, controllers, and networked control systems.
  • Ensure projects meet engineering standards, system performance requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Train, mentor, and develop HVAC technicians, engineers, and controls specialists.
  • Foster a culture of safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Support recruiting, training, and development to build a high-performing controls team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with repeat customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction.
