About The Position

Under general supervision, performs skilled custodial and janitorial and facility support tasks for Rec-Plex North and Rec-Plex South, including the cleaning, sanitation, care, minor maintenance and snow and ice control required for City facilities, and monitors facility and premise activities to ensure proper use and function and to maintain a safe and attractive environment. Normal Shift: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 3:30pm-12:00am, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • Fundamental knowledge of janitorial equipment and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and carry it a reasonable distance and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 lbs.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the state of Missouri.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or GED equivalency.
  • Experience performing skilled building attendant, custodial or janitorial tasks required for public facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of custodial, mechanical, electrical, and battery-powered equipment used for cleaning, maintenance, and snow and ice control.
  • Clean, sanitize, maintain, and make necessary minor repairs to public and non-public recreational spaces including flooring, restrooms, locker rooms, pools, ice arenas, courts, seating areas, offices, and common areas.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation related to bodily fluids and other biohazards in compliance with City safety standards.
  • Assist with daily opening and closing of Rec-Plex facilities.
  • Assist with monitoring of facility HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other systems for proper operation and report needed repairs.
  • Perform room and event setup and takedown, including placement, removal, and storage of tables, chairs, linens, and audio/visual equipment.
  • Monitor facility and premises activities to ensure proper use by customers, provide customer service, and assist with public safety procedures.
  • Perform snow and ice control operations for facility entrances, sidewalks, and walkways.
  • Assist with organizing, monitoring, ordering, receiving, and stocking building and custodial supplies.
  • Move and position furniture, boxes, and goods as required.
  • Perform other work as assigned.
